That is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the price. It's very easy to find a matcha that is twice cheaper in Japan (online or in any supermarket) where we have a large panel of choices. Besides, it’s a 100g packet so I thought this is a lot of matcha!
As a regular user of matcha for my pastries, I am looking for a good quality matcha that offers both deep and bright color as well as deep fragrance and flavor. I’ve always had hard time finding a good matcha because it was either cheap and bad quality and good quality but too pricey (like 3000 yen for 30g)
After I got my hands on it, not only was I amazed by the color ( important factor when making pastries) but also the taste. It offers the same quality as the super fancy matcha one can find in Kyoto but at a much reasonable price.
It offers the perfect balance for those like me who are looking to use it for both pastries AND as a tea alone.
Matcha is very tricky to choose because usually the most expensive ones are very strong in flavor, so for those who are not used to it, the taste can be overwhelming. If you are a hardcore fan of matcha looking for a very dense and strong powder, this one might not be for you. But if like me you are looking for the right balance, yet very high quality at a good price, this is the one !
Now for me, there is no turning back and it has become a go-to when it comes to matcha !
